Travel Vlog: Exploring the city of Reykjavik in Iceland

It’s me! Matt Stone. Join me as I travel to the land of fire and ice for my honeymoon.

It’s our second day in Iceland and today we spent some time exploring the capital Reykjavik (Apologies to native Icelanders, I still cannot pronounce it properly). We discover just how cold and windy Iceland can be in the winter and take some time sheltering in the Harpa Concert Hall & Conference Centre before heading up to see the magnificent church known as Hallgrímskirkja.

After a slippery trek across the city we decided to drive up to the Perlan (means Pearl in English) to enjoy some 360 degree views of Reykjavik from the top of a hot water storage facility that is pumped beneath the city’s pavements to keep them free of ice, it also happens to house one of the top rated revolving restaurants in the world!

Travel Vlog: Land of Fire and Ice, first day travelling to Iceland

It’s me! Matt Stone. Join me as I travel to the land of fire and ice for my honeymoon.

Side Note: This vlog is a tribute to Casey Neistat, whose daily vlogs (especially the travel ones) continue to inspire me. Don’t expect this style on future vlogs, that wouldn’t be very original of me!

We start off in the Bloc Hotel at Gatwick where we had stayed the previous day after watching the Lion King Musical in London, we then checked into the No. 1 Lounge in the North Terminal and flew to Reykjavik in Iceland.

When we arrived I thought I heard the pilot say the wind was gusting 6-8mph, it turns out he said 68mph! I’ve never stepped outside into such bitter cold and I was wearing full winter gear, I’m just hoping the wind drops enough to fly my new DJI Mavic Pro (subscribe to get notifications when I post the next episodes).

Day Trip: Almost broke my leg at Marwell Zoo

It’s me! Matt Stone. Today we visited Marwell Zoo near Eastleigh, Southampton in Hampshire.

We looked around the Zoo and I found out what happens when you try and run like a Cheetah and mess it up! I fell and hurt myself pretty badly, I bust up my right knee, and fell on my left arm and side of my chest which are now badly bruised!

I didn’t let that ruin the day though and soldiered on, I only wish the camera had been rolling when I fell as I imagine it would have been hilarious to watch.
